All About Catamaran Sailing

At Waikiki Beach Activities, the Spirit of Aloha is the newest and largest catamaran boarding along Waikiki Beach. Our Friday
Fireworks Dinner Cruise and Sunset Cocktail Cruise offer unique experiences and views that you won't soon forget. If you're curious about Catamaran sailing, here's what you need to know.

A catamaran is balanced on two hulls and sails are in the middle. Depending on the size of the catamaran, the space separating the two hulls might be filled by the main cabin or a cockpit.

Catamarans are popular because of the space it offers. it is roomier than a traditional sailboat. Guests can move about and the space below and above decks. Having two hulls also offers more stability to the catamaran, preventing it to heel over. You can also sail in shallower waters and are faster than sailboats.

During lighter weather conditions, catamarans are smooth sailing and perform comfortably. It can get a bit more challenging during heavier weather especially when the wind is strong as sailors would ned to trim catamaran sails differently compared to sailboats. However, most sailors would tend to avoid going out anyway for everyone's safety.
