Pool Safety Reminders

Drowning is a leading cause of death worldwide, and ranks fifth among the leading causes of unintentional injury death in America. To be safe with your family in the pool, here are some safety reminders.

Sign your child up for swimming lessons - Having lessons is a good way to introduce your child to the basics of water safety.

Have a designated adult to watch the kids - If you have a family gathering or pool party, there can be a lot of things that can distract parents from watching their kids. It's important to either assign an adult as the designated person to watch the kids or take turns doing so to make sure that you can focus on keeping an eye on those in the pool.

Have a fence or barrier installed - if you have a pool at home, it's best to be proactive and install a barrier around all sides of the pool to prevent young children from going in without your knowledge.
