Sailing Etiquette
A dinner or boat cruise is one of the most memorable ways to spend a Hawaii vacation. The cool breeze and warm sunshine offers an exhilarating experience allowing you to see the island like never before.
To help you and others enjoy the experience here are some boat etiquette to remember:
Discuss the rules - Before you set sail, listen to the safety and boat rules that everyone is expected to abide by. These may include appropriate behavior, smoking, drinking, noise, etc so be sure to make note of these.
Don't Litter - It is important to preserve the natural state of our waters and ensure that we leave them in pristine condition. Don't throw your garbage into the water as it can damage wildlife and pollute our seas.
Pack light – Only bring the minimum amount of items with you when going aboard a cruise or catamaran. There is limited room on board, so the fewer things you bring the better.
Respect different cultures - Hawaii attracts many different vacation-goers from various countries and is a great way to meet new friends and learn about different cultures.
Each culture may have a different way of greeting and engaging so it’s important to show tolerance and respect for each other’s differences.
Respect Your Captain and Crew - When aboard a catamaran or cruise ship, be sure to treat your captain and crew with respect and listen to their instructions.
