Staying Safe in the Water When Kayaking
Kayaking is great activity to try while on your Hawaii vacation. Before you paddle out, here are some safety tips to help you enjoy your experience.
Take a Lesson - if you've never been on a kayak before, it might be helpful to take a lesson, especially to learn about paddling and maneuvering the kayak.
Hold the paddle with a light grip. - This allows you to control your kayak's movements while staying flexible. Swift, rhythmic and deep forward paddling will make your boat go.
Do what works for you - Stick to your own pace and style of paddling. This allows you to move more naturally on the water.
Keep your upper body at a balanced center of gravity (Tip: keep your nose aligned with the center of the boat and pointing forward). When balanced, tipping is nearly impossible and steering becomes easier.
Cruise the calm waters of our Duke Kahanamoku Lagoon or take your adventure off shore for a beautiful view of Duke Kahanamoku Beach. Check out our guest-friendly rental prices and reserve your boat today.
